how  can  we  talk  about  the  difficult  stuff?
maybe  we  can  figure  it  out  together

MY BLACK DOG tour
tour #2  dates coming soon

After a sold out premiere screening in early Feb 2025 at The Picture Show Man, Merimbula - Executive Director Gabby Rose has taken My Black Dog on its first leg of an extensive tour of Regional NSW.

In late May 2025; Cootamundra, Young and Tumut enjoyed screenings at local arts centres and cinemas for school groups and community members, with accompanying well-being workshops.

Keep your eyes out for locations of our upcoming second tour, and get in touch with the FLING team to speak about a screening in your town.

My Black Dog is a cinematic remake of FLING's award winning 2019 live work.
A powerful film exploring youth mental health, particularly of those living in regional locations.

My Black Dog takes an honest and realistic look at the situations adolescents in regional centres are facing, speaking to them directly about what's going on and striving to develop a youth centric approach to tackling these issues.

The film expresses stories that are touching, honest and uplifting. Utilising the abstraction of dance and performance to express the more visceral aspects of struggling with a mental illness, and demonstrating the different points of connection and support that can be created or exist around a young person.

The project provides a multi generational take on mental health issues and their impacts.
It has been designed by young people, for young people.
We see My Black Dog as a catalyst, and we hope this will prompt greater conversation, and honest feedback about what is currently happening and what we can improve to support youth more.

Across 2025 My Black Dog will be toured to locations across regional NSW with accompanying Wellbeing Workshops that cover four areas of exploration;
1. Identity, skills and strengths (exploring who we become and who we want to be in different settings)
2. Curating your life (exploring how our music, media and space impact our wellbeing)
3. Self talk (exploring how we talk to ourselves and how to generate kindness to ourselves and others)
4. Managing stress, sleep & wellness (practical tools to support self care).
