What are Supported Sessions at FLING?
Supported Sessions include increased staff in the space facilitated by FLING, for program participants requiring extra support.
If your young person requires extra support to participate, we strongly recommend enrolment in these sessions.
If your young person also has access to support via an NDIS plan, this is encouraged.
Got questions about our supported sessions or participation via an NDIS plan?

BALLET PROGRAM
FLING offers Ballet classes for people aged 3yrs and beyond.
Our ballet program provides strong foundational training in a supportive, inclusive environment.
At FLING we teach ballet classes from our perspective as professional contemporary dance artists, with personal histories in focused ballet and contemporary dance training.
Our teaching focus is to empower young movers with body knowledge, kinaesthetic learning, safe dance practices and individual artistry.
Our ballet program encourages participants to learn from a young age - ‘how' we do things with our body in ballet training and discussing the ‘why'.

We welcome dancers joining us for recreation and those working toward a career in dance.
*Pointe classes are offered privately to those wishing to progress their training.

TUESDAYS // BEGA

BEGINNER ADULT BALLET
Class moves through a series of led ballet exercises, aimed at beginners or those returning to ballet after a time away. We will warm, lengthen and stabilise the body before moving through sequences & simple ballet coordinations at the barre and in the centre. Class will support you to access new ballet movements or return to dance in a way that is easeful, playful and
sustainable for the body and the mind.

Want to do more than just weekly classes? Want to PERFORM?
Why not think about joining YFLING (7-10yrs), FLUX Creators (11-14yrs) or the FLING Company (14+). Our Youth Company programs allow you to develop unique skills in performance, build confidence, make great friends and kick start your career in the performing arts.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO FLING?

FLING encourages our young people to wear clothing to class they are comfortable in and that matches their sense of self expression.
We do not require a dance ‘uniform’ for your young person to participate.
Eg: A leotard and tights are not required (but are very welcome) in ballet class.
However, movement at FLING can be big, expansive and comes with an element of risk - we do ask you wear clothing that is safe and functional to dance in.
Clothes that contribute to your positive learning!
YES
Breathable fabric - eg cotton
Non trip / non slip lengths and fabrics
Clothing where your movement action can be seen - not too baggy
Hair ties/Hair pins (claw clips are dangerous for floor work)
Pack your back the night before class and coming prepared!
NO
Huge hoodies with long baggy sleeves or slouchy pockets
Denim - it’s terrible for partnering, restricts movement and damages our dance floor!
Got more questions about what to wear to class?
Get in touch.
