what is building momentum?
Building Momentum is designed to meaningfully support emerging & early career artists into industry readiness.
This 3 week program running Monday - Friday includes intensive movement practice in the studio with leading Australian dance artists, the development of new technical and creative skills, mentorship from lead artists and FLING's Artistic Team, weekly performance practice in diverse spaces, plus practical tools and asset development to be ready for your next industry opportunity.
Invest intensively in your dance practice, build collective energy & connection with peers the industry, get to know the practices of industry experts and form lasting relationships with FLING and the artistic team.
Join a small cohort for the inaugural Building Momentum.
This program is partially subsided by funding from Creative Australia.

Visiting emerging artists live in the Bega Valley region for 3 weeks at own cost - FLING can support some connections to billeting or local accomodation

WHO IS IT FOR?:
- Local professional dance/movement artists seeking regular training and connection with other artists
- Recent graduates at professional/pre- professional skill level looking to extend and maintain their movement practice
- Visiting dance artists looking to train and connect with the Bega Valley dance community
- This program is for experienced adult movers or by invitation for younger artists at the discretion of the FLING artistic team.
WHAT TO EXPECT?:
Professional training will be led by FLING's experienced artistic team and occasionally visiting artists.
Class will work through the contemporary movement practice of the lead artist, so expect variation between people.
Class will often move quickly with the expectation that participants are able to self manage and adjust content to their needs
Class will sometimes move slowly or deep dive into material with the expectation that participants can drive their own knowledge and curiosity.
